Product Description
The 10-5/8" IADC 537 Tricone Drill Bit cuts limestone and similar medium-to-hard formations where roller cone geometry delivers better footage per bit than PDC alternatives. Rated IADC 537, this 10-5/8 inch (269mm) bit handles compressive strengths from 80-140 MPa without aggressive vibration damage to the drill string.
The cutting structure uses Tungsten carbide insert (TCI), 14mm button profile. Each cone carries staggered rows that maintain continuous contact with the formation face, preventing bit bounce in interbedded sequences. Under WOB of 10-18 t/bit, the inserts displace material at controlled depth of cut rather than relying solely on rotary scraping.
Bearings are Sealed roller bearing with grease reservoir. This configuration Tungsten carbide button teeth for hard formation drilling — keeps contaminated drilling fluid away from the bearing race, extending bearing life in abrasive formations where standard open-bearing bits fail within 20-30 drilling hours. The grease compensation system equalizes internal pressure against borehole pressure at depth, maintaining seal integrity under downhole hydrostatic load.
Hydraulic configuration: 3× nozzle ports, 16mm jet diameter. High-velocity fluid jets impact the formation bottom directly beneath each cone, lifting cuttings away from the bit face before re-grinding can increase WOB and reduce ROP. Optimum flow rate keeps the borehole bottom clean at 60-120 rpm rpm for this bit size. Primary application is Oil and gas production casing pilot holes, large-diameter mineral exploration.
Thread connection: 6-5/8" API Regular Pin, compatible with standard BHA configurations used across these well types. The bit body is constructed from forged alloy steel with hard-facing on the gauge row to maintain borehole diameter through the full bit run.
Operating parameters: WOB 10-18 t/bit, rotary speed 60-120 rpm. Start at the lower end of WOB when drilling through soft interbeds to avoid cone lock. Increase WOB incrementally once the bit stabilizes in the target formation. Pull the bit if ROP drops below 0.5m/hr — at that point, bearing wear typically exceeds 70% and continued rotation risks cone loss downhole.
