The SG-160M offers two engine options — 58KW and 77KW — ordered at project specification stage. That choice matters: soft alluvial overburden and interbedded sedimentary sequences at 160m depth do not need 77KW, which keeps operating costs down. Hard basement granite or volcanic rock at well base does. Specifying correctly at the start avoids overpowering or underpowering the rig for the actual geology.
Multi-functional means three drilling modes on one machine: DTH pneumatic hammer for consolidated rock, rotary mud for unconsolidated or water-sensitive layers, and reverse circulation for high-yield sampling and water-bearing zones. That range covers the formation variability that contractors face across Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia in a single 160m production well. At 160m, the SG-160M sits in the depth range used by international development organizations — UNICEF, World Bank, NGO water programs — for rural community water supply and school/clinic boreholes.
