When the aquifer is below 200 meters in granite, basalt, or quartzite, most mid-range crawler rigs run out of penetration rate before they run out of drill pipe. The SG-280J was built for that situation: 77KW diesel power, full DTH percussion to 280 meters depth, in rock up to F16 on the Protodyakonov scale.
The dual-purpose configuration switches between DTH air hammer — for hard consolidated rock intervals — and rotary mud circulation — for overburden, fractured zones, and water-bearing layers that need borehole stabilization. A 77KW hammer at 280m delivers the air pressure and percussion energy to maintain drilling rate in deep basement rock that lower-power rigs stall in. Borehole diameter range of 130–250mm supports large-casing community wells and industrial water supply boreholes, not just slim exploratory holes. The crawler undercarriage includes 360° hydraulic slewing and auto-leveling jacks for stable setup on rocky or inclined terrain.
