The 9 7/8 inch IADC 537 Milled Steel Tooth Tricone Bit is purpose-built for medium to medium-hard formation drilling, delivering reliable performance across oil and gas exploration, deep water wells, and coalbed methane drilling where borehole diameter and formation hardness demand a balanced approach to weight-on-bit and rotary speed.
Classified under IADC Series 5, this bit targets shale, sandstone, limestone, and interbedded sequences requiring stronger tooth geometry and higher contact force compared to soft-formation bits. The 9 7/8" mid-size gauge maintains high penetration rates in competent rock across extended drilling programs. For water well and soft formation projects requiring a larger borehole diameter, our 12 1/4 inch IADC 127 Tricone Bit offers the gauge and formation range suited to those applications.
Steel teeth are precision-milled from high-strength alloy steel, providing hardness and impact resistance for sustained cutting efficiency in medium-hard strata. The robust cone structure reduces vibration-induced wear, lowering premature failure risk. Connection via 6 5/8 REG rotary shouldered thread ensures compatibility with standard BHA configurations.
